AGQ Labs USA hosted one more year the Ventura County Farm Day, on Saturday November 4th
AGQ Labs USA hosted one more year the Ventura County Farm Day. We hit a new record with almost 200 people visiting our facilities. We would like to thank everyone who came out to see the Lab!
Our Lab Director, Jesse Calvillo, explained the visitors how we analyze the samples received from the field (fresh produces, soils, water, leaves, etc.) to help clients get the best out of their land as well as test the food we are eating to make sure it is safe to eat. Tours were given every hour from 10:30 am until 2:30 pm.
Farm Day is an annual multi-location event featuring tours and activities on over 20 working farms in Ventura County. It was a fantastic experience interacting with the visitors and explaining how our Lab works. Many questions arose among the public and we were able to explain the services provided by AGQ Labs USA, Pesticide Residue analysis, Heavy Metals analysis, Soil analysis, Water analysis, Crop Nutritional Monitoring technology, etc.
See you next year at the 6th Annual Ventura County Farm Day!
About SEEAG and Farm Day – Helping kids understand the true origins of their food
Mary Maranville founded Students for Eco-Education and Agriculture (SEEAG) in 2008. Even with Ventura County’s rich agricultural heritage, children don’t make the connection between the acres of farmland around them and the food on their tables. This education program helps make that connection. Providing kids with field trips to local farms brings the message home even further.
SEEAG’s Mission is to educate children about the farm origins of their food from field to table while cultivating visceral connections to the surrounding farmland and its contribution to nutritional wellbeing.
SEEAG’s Agricultural Education Programs – “The Journey of Our Food From Field to Fork”, “The Journey of a Lemon & Ventura County Specialty Crops”, and “STEM-based Careers in Agriculture” – is offered to schools throughout Ventura and Los Angeles Counties during the school year.
