AGQ Labs S.L. Group joins the Alliance for Childhood Vaccination to save children exposed to severe illnesses.
Childhood vaccination is one of the most significant health challenges worldwide and has grown in significance due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The AGQ Labs S.L. Group’s decision to aid in increasing vaccine access by joining the Alliance for Childhood Vaccination stems from the prospect of saving millions of children’s lives.
The “la Caixa” Foundation and Gavi (Vaccine Alliance) created the Alliance for Childhood Vaccination in 2008 to offer Spanish companies, as part of their social responsibility, the opportunity to collaborate in the Gavi Project to fight against child mortality. As the project grew, customers and employees of the CaixaBank Group joined. ISGlobal (the Barcelona Institute for Global Health) joined as the scientific and academic partner.
Since 2000, the Gavi Project has helped vaccinate more than 888 million children in the world’s 73 poorest countries, helping to prevent more than 15 million future deaths.
The “la Caixa” Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have committed to quadrupling this year’s donations to ensure the health and growth of the world’s child population.
The AGQ Labs S.L. Group’s contribution will be used to distribute the pneumococcal vaccine in Mozambique and Ethiopia to prevent pneumonia: the leading cause of infant mortality due to infectious disease. This alliance has already contributed to vaccinate more than 8 million children under five years of age, who will now be able to have a longer, healthier, and more productive life.
