AGQ Labs is a proud member of the Biotechnology Program Advisory Council at Ventura College
Laboratory Director Jesse Calvillo and CEO Tenesor Peña participated on the last meeting held on May 14th at the Wright Event Center (WEC) at Ventura College.
Two main topics were discussed during the meeting:
- What certification training might Ventura College offer that would support companies in Quality Assurance or Food Safety?
- How might Ventura College Biotechnology Program become more aware of and respond better to local industry needs?
AGQ Labs had the opportunity to explain its deep experience on the Food Safety business as a testing lab and the new regulations appearing after FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act).
The food industry is full of different regulatory and industry requirements to demonstrate that food products are safe and of high quality. To do this, companies must partner with a food testing lab with the most advanced techniques, accredited at the highest international level, and staffed with experts that are able to offer unique solutions to improve processes in product conservation and regulatory compliance.
AGQ Labs offers different services on the Food Safety area:
- Pesticide Residue Analysis
- MRL Compliance

The Biotechnology Program at Ventura College is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of industries that increasingly use biotechnology techniques. These industries include pharmaceutical discovery and manufacturing, agricultural technology, and food safety and processing. These industries are seeking employees with laboratory skills experience and the soft skills to successfully complete tasks and interact with co-workers and clients to fill middle skills positions. The Biotechnology Program at Ventura College also prepares students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree for transfer to university.
